I believe that all people were born with positive potential. Unfortunately, due to all kinds of hurt that happens in life, we unconsciously built layers of protection onto our inner Self, blocking our ability to see things clearly, and limit our capacity to respond to life in a healthy and constructive way.

My Background

My name is May Tian. I am a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC #13871) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and a Registered Counselling Therapist  (RCT-21-058) with the Nova Scotia College for Counselling Therapists (NSCCT) and  offering individual counselling services in either English or Mandarin. I am an registered Blue Cross provider ( # 1703501),  a therapist approved for Therapeutic Counselling and Assessment Services run by the Department of Community Services, and an approved counsellor with the Criminal Injuries Counselling Program run by the Department of Justice.

In 2006, I immigrated to Halifax from China alone. While anxious to start my new life in Canada, I also survived culture shocks, isolation, language barriers, inner conflicts and life challenges, which is often the experience of a newcomer to a country.  Life has taught me that when I CHOOSE to live in the MOMENT, my energy then focuses on SOLVING THE PROBLEM in front of me, not taken away by the flood of emotions, often driven by hurtful past experiences.

It has been my greatest privilege to live through life in two cultures.  The wisdom I have absorbed from China’s rich culture, my Master level professional education in psychology, family studies and counselling, plus my years of bi-culture life experience in Canada, have prepared me to be a compassionate and competent counsellor and to offer my assistance to clients who are struggling with a variety of life challenges.
